As of January 2012 we had agreed on we would have to create three teams which we called The Power of 3, and Yes 2012 was a success with Engagement team and Localization team moving forward and rapidly expanding! and the Development team a bit slow.So I was thinking way before to at the very least establish a core group of volunteer developers to help the MozillaPH Development team to get started.

With the help of a student volunteer Marcus Ang who also specializes in development, we had discussed of a meet-up, at first we just had thought of a simple gathering of developers just to hear what the current trends in terms of development today and other events that might come for Devs ,and we reached the final decision to conduct a MozCoffee for Developers. I’ts almost 2 months of preparation and yes the day Finally arrived when MozillaPH Development team IGNITES!

So what’s my story? how it all began? from being a student representatives to Mozilla Representatives… here how it goes,

It was a hot afternoon on the year 2009, I was wandering around the halls of my school looking for a place to stay and burn my 5 hours vacant time, luckily I bumped to one of my classmates( and now my best friend) Kevin he invited me to visit Jun in his office, I did not asked what we would be doing since I am finding a place to stay.

Jun’s office is located on the top of the main building so it would be long way from the first floor. We tried using the elevator but unfortunately that time it’s out of service, our only choice now is to use the stairs. It’s like doing a cardio exercise. 4 floors would really make you sweat. as we entered the hall. his office is located at the top. so another staircase up. (*huff huff huff*)

Jun welcomed us and told and to rest for a while(that’s his usual greeting for anyone who comes to his cave HAHAHA!), we talked about usual tech stuffs and school activities and then he opened about Mozilla and telling us that there is a local community and they are looking for contributors and there is no Membership Fee it just need a little bit of our time. I did not say yes at that moment. I kept telling Jun I will check it out and try it sometimes… several months passed and I ‘checked out’ the community

July 31 2010, We are invited to join the first community meetup down south led by the former Community Manager Regnard Raquedan, along with us is a close friend Ruth Tiangco, Joell Lapitan we came as the new student representatives from Letran. and look what we had as a community Milestone the very first Firefox Pizza :)

then there were bunch of small Mozilla sponsored events on our IT Department. including the general overview of the Mozilla Community in the Philippines spearheaded by Jun.

April 16 2011, The first ever Major event that I had attended being a Student representatives, The Firefox 4 launching held at Asian Institute of Management. I get to meet and have lunch together with Gen Kanai the Director of Asia Community Engagement for Mozilla and the rest of the Mozilla Philippines crew.

September 22,2011, I applied to be on Mozilla Representative Program and was accepted on October 13 2011 one of the very first here in our country.

November 19, 2011, While the Mozilla Philippines Team were in Kuala Lumpur for the Mozcamp Asia. Student Representatives Daryll Abulencia, Kevin and I were attending the App congress at Xavier. where we meet lots of developers with their cool apps.

January 13 2012, we had a year end meetup( supposedly the pre-xmas party but well nevermind… HAHAHA) held at Rack’s Alabang. Discussion was focused on The Power of 3. This was the date that I simply would not forget. It’s amazing to think a small group of individuals be able to do great things for just a year

Mozilla Representatives: More Fun in the Philippines

This meet up was the start of everything we had done this 2012,  including Mozilla Campus Tours, Open Web Days, Mozcoffees and different trainings. One of the most amazing things that happened to us was being invited to join the MozCamp Asia 2012 in Singapore, where every thing was FREE(yes EVERYTHING!! from airplane tickets to hotel accommodations).

you might ask me on how I contribute? Well when I was still starting out I helped on Social Media Marketing, re-tweeting tweets from Mozilla Philippines Community, sharing and liking posts. then I act as the not so official photographer of the group.

Then as I move myself up and started giving talks from small to a large audience. tracks bugs on Mozilla products, Joined army of awesome. leads awesome student representatives.

these contributions I have made might not be that grand, and not even that hard to do. but think of it this way, when small contributions are gathered together they create a big impact to the community :) .

You, yes YOU. the one reading this blog. why not share a little bit of your time and join our community? try watching our Manifesto below :)

With all that said. I am Happy being with the Mozilla Family hope to see you guys and girls in action :)

Do you have problems on the sound quality of you earphones/headphones?  Do you want to buy a new pair but you can’t afford it?  Well I would like to introduce to you guys and gals this little marvel.  FiiO E6 headphone Amplifier, a budget friendly portable amplifier.

FiiO E6 Headphone Amplifier

I have been using FiiO E6 Headphone Amplifiers since April 2012, and I must say I am enjoying every bit of it.I originally bought it due to my extreme curiosity of what a headphone amplifier does.so let’s get down to business and let me show you how good this little baby is.

What’s Inside the Box:

FiiO E6 and accessories plus manual

  • 1 FiiO E6 Heaphone Amplifer
  • 2 Transparent back clips
  • 2 3.5mm to 3.5mm cables (1 10cm with angled plugs, 1 80cm with straight plugs) *both ends are gold plated*
  • 1 USB charging cable
  • 1 User Manual

Technical Specifications:

Output Power: 150mW (16Ω); 16mW (300Ω)
Headphone Impedance Range: 16 Ω ~ 300 Ω
SNR: ≥95dB (A weighted)
Distortion: <0.009% (10mW)
Frequency Range: 10Hz ~ 100kHz
Power Supply: Internal rechargeable Li-ion battery
Recharging: USB 5V DC 500mA
Size: 41mm x 40.2mm x 8mm
Weight: 16g

First Look and Feel:

The FiiO E6 headphone amplifier is made with glossy plastic and is very lightweight with a size of 41×40.2x9mm, and only weights 16g, its body is quite well built however if you try to shake the device to see if there are loose materials you can hear the volume rocker’s move(or maybe this is only on my unit) . This amp is very portable. and easy to carry or store in bags or pockets. The transparent back clips are easy to attach and detach though I must say that the clips doesn’t look that sturdy. that might be the reason why the company provided a replacement clip. having this glossy look the E6 do get scratched easily and finger prints marks the E6 body, the buttons are painted with chrome like finish. There is 2 LED lights to distinguish EQ(Equalizers) located at the back side and Power located at upper right.

Performance and Battery

With a small body will it last even for 4hours? unfortunately it doesn’t… But it lasted for a whopping 10 hours with continuous usage, How AMAZING is that? one more awesome feature of E6 Headphone Amplifier is it has 3 set of EQ. The First EQ (Red Light) is a bass boost, though its not that good to tell you guys honestly. The second EQ(Blue light) is Treble boost.(mid range boost). and the last EQ(Combined Red and Blue Light) is Clear & Balance bass boost. you can change the EQ on the E6′s power slider located on the right side of the unit. to change the EQ just slide it up.FiiO E6 Headphone Amplifier Power switch

If you would notice the upper right corner is lit. this is the indicator light for power. The color varies depending on how it is used, when the E6 is turned on. Blue Color means its working or being used. while if it has Blue and Red color. it is being used while it is being charged. If it is turned off. Red color means it is being charged. the led would turn off automatically when the battery is full. when you slide the power slider up and hold it for about 3 seconds it would turn itself off. sliding it down locks the E6.

The volume rockers located on the left side of the E6′s has a smooth transition on turning the sound up or down. there are no crackling sounds or distortion that can be heard in any level of the volume. as for typical volume rockers short press increase/decrease gradually change while long press increase/decrease constantly change in volume.

One downside of FiiO E6 headphone amplifiers is it does not turns off automatically. so if you forgot to turn it off. the battery would be drained continuously. but that’s not a big problem for me. I always bring my MiLi Powerbank, and with that I can charge E6 right away!

Conclusion:

FiiO E6 headphone amplifier is a good if not the best portable amplifier out there. considering it’s cheap price of PHP 1,400 when I bought it at Astroplus in Mall of Asia last April(with 1 year warranty). It is a High Quality product, great performance, I recommend this to every Audiophiles out there. VERY portable, lightweight and easy to use. Accessories are also sold with  cheap tag prices.

If you must know the rating I gave this Product, I rate it as 4/5
